After electing a new Board of Trustees, Erie is ready to look at final approval for the 218 acre Parkdale development in the area between Arapahoe and Baseline near East County Line Road.
The project may include somewhere around 600 homes, and will also have a number of oil and gas wells. Don’t get too excited about the idea of homes and gas/oil wells near each other though, there’s a plan for that in the works.
According to recent reports Extraction Oil and Gas plans on completing all the drilling, then plugging the wells before any homes are built. In a recent town meeting, the topic of having homes near oil and gas wells didn’t really get much concern or attention.
OEO LLC., the developer behind Parkdale has responded quickly to the Town of Erie’s requests for changes and updates to the plans for Parkdale and seems to be interested in moving ahead quickly on starting the project. They’ve been aggressively purchasing private land from local residents some of which originally purchased farm/ranch land years ago. Several properties, including a few 10 acre parcels are already under contract or in the process of purchase negotiations.
It’s not clear yet how OEO will address the issue of devoting land to BVSD for a school in the community, but hopefully they find a solution, otherwise home builders may be responsible for paying a fee-in-lieu of land dedication.
