The City of Boulder is still going after Excel. Plans are to create its own municipal electric utility. The city has been talking about this for a very long time. The latest news from a couple weeks ago is that Boulder has offered Xcel Energy $68.5 million dollars to get the Xcel assets.
Apparently the sale would include over 100,000 pieces of equipment and property. I wonder if we'd finally get to see the unused 'smoke' stacks at the power plant taken down. We can only hope.
