The primary reason is Bcycle lost sponsorship from Kaiser Permanente many months ago, and Boulder B-Cycle can't afford to keep the service running.
Some commercial electric scooter companies, like those prevalent in downtown Denver, are likely not going to appear on the scene to replace B-Cycle as Boulder City Council appears to be opposed to electric scooters.
Apparently the B-Cycle program has never been in the black, and has required tens of thousands of dollars in subsidies to keep running so far.
