Call, Text, or Email me. I’d love to talk to you about the Wonderland Hill neighborhood, or any other Boulder neighborhood, especially if you’re thinking of a move, or know someone that is moving.

A key part of what makes the Wonderland Hill neighborhood special is Wonderland Lake, and the extensive hiking and biking trail system that weaves through Wonderland Hill connecting it to the a 21-acre wild-life refuge which really defines what Wonderland Hill is all about.

The lake area includes a beautiful park with a children’s play area, convenient benches, and a large well-maintained open lawn perfect for an ad hoc game of frisbee.

One unique aspect of Wonderland Hill is that there’s no real parking for ‘guests’ around the park, lake or other areas, which means that while it’s a haven for its residents on many levels, it has not, and probably never will become a ‘destination’ location for Boulder locals who live outside the Wonderland Hill neighborhood. Except for the frequent bikers and hikers using the hogback trail system along the western edge of the neighborhood.

The first time Alex and I met was because I had finished my EcoBroker certification, and realized I had a new way to help people. I sought out a new path to get to know the people behind what I believed to be good work in the Boulder housing community.

One of the projects I looked at was called Solar Village. It’s a development actually out in the north eastern part of Boulder County in an area called Prospect. There are many really cool things that Alex did with Solar Village, and it intrigued me to want to get to know him. So guess what I did; I just looked him up and went over to his office.

What I found was someone who, like me, has a desire to bring great solutions to home buyers who are looking to learn more about, and embrace green building techniques.

More and more of us are focusing our attention on green building, and many people are concerned about how to make the right decisions about green building. I know some of us have spent lots of money on upgrades like new windows, and renewable energy solutions for our houses, only to be disappointed by the poor financial return on the initial capital investment. If you have, you are not alone, and you should know that it’s very easy to be misled in this industry.

Actually, it’s more common than you might think to get caught up in the advertising hoopla that encourages us to spend our money in certain ways, with the promise of great returns on energy and money savings.

When I first walked into Alex Platt’s office in Boulder, I thought I might find some guy either too busy to take the time to talk to me, or someone that was ready to sell me on why he was the only one with all the right answers.

Rafael’s idea of the perfect client, as he told it to me recently, is one that appreciates and respects nature. His vision is to work closely with his clients to help them enhance the beauty of the natural environment. He said he loves to create spaces of natural refuge for them. He recently installed an irrigation system in the Superior area, and he’s done numerous patios, driveways and walkways… he’s even been called in to ‘fix’ what others have done to help clients realize their true dreams for their outdoor living experience.

The University Hill Neighborhood includes the area from Chautauqua Park down the hill north all the way to Marine Street. Known for being home to wonderful old homes, some fraternities and sororities it’s come in and out of fashion as a place for families and undergrads alike.
